Privacy policy
OpenParcels works without an account. This page explains which data goes through the service, why, for how long, and how to exercise your rights. The French version is the binding one.
1. Data controller
in:Expeditions, 8 rue Lacépède, 75005 Paris, France. Contact: contact@openparcels.eu.
2. Using the map
No sign-up, no identifier. To show a plot card, the coordinates you tap are sent to our servers, which query public sources: IGN API Carto, the French national address base, the French planning portal, DVF (French tax authority), and depending on the country PDOK (Netherlands), swisstopo (Switzerland) or the Dirección General del Catastro (Spain).
For the Climate & soil tab, our servers send rounded coordinates (about 100 m) to Open-Meteo (climate projections, rain, elevation), PVGIS (European Commission, solar potential) and, in France, Géorisques (BRGM).
Your browser loads map tiles directly (OpenFreeMap, data.gouv.fr) and sends address searches to Photon (Komoot). As with any website, these providers see your IP address.
This data is only used to run the map. No profile is built.
3. Audience measurement
We count page views and a few actions anonymously (card opened, search, partner clicked), with the page name and date only. Counting uses no cookie or identifier, and IP addresses are not stored. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Advertisers (partner slots)
Professionals who book a partner slot online give us their display name, tagline, link, optionally a phone number, and a billing email. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see card numbers. Legal basis: performance of the contract and accounting obligations.
Clicking a partner opens their website directly, without passing on your data.
5. Sale alerts
On a plot card you can ask to be alerted about sales around a plot. We then keep your email, the plot reference and position, your language, and the date and text of the consent you ticked. This data is only used to send you those alerts; it is never sold or passed on.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time through the unsubscribe link in each email or by writing to us. The data is erased within a month.
6. Advertising and cookies
By default the site sets no advertising cookies. The only thing stored on your device is your unit preference (m² or sq ft), in your browser’s local storage.
If Google AdSense ads are shown, a certified consent window (IAB TCF) asks for your choice first. You can change it at any time.
7. Public data shown
Sale prices come from the French DVF database, which contains no buyer or seller names. Individual sales are not indexed by search engines, and our public pages only show medians.
If information about your property bothers you, write to contact@openparcels.eu and we can hide it.
8. Retention
- Advertiser and invoice data: statutory accounting retention (10 years).
- Audience counters: anonymous, kept 25 months.
- Alert sign-ups: until you unsubscribe, at most 3 years without an alert email being opened.
9. Your rights
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and you can withdraw your consent. Write to contact@openparcels.eu. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
